As we have now entered the month of Shawwal, many of us will be attempting to fast the six nawafil fasts for this months, anyone who has done this before, will know it is not easy, especially as the shayateen (devils) are now unchained and you suddenly feel hungry all the time.
Working Muslim’s and Muslimah’s will also have to deal with confused colleagues – "I thought you were finished fasting?). I usually answer that I have finished with Ramadan but it’s good to keep six fasts in this month as this is a special month too.

Abu Ayyoob (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts Ramadaan and follows it with six days of Shawwaal, it will be as if he fasted for a lifetime." (Narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawood, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nisaa’i and Ibn Maajah).

ReplyDeleteThank you for posting about fasting in Shawwal. I tell ya, I haven't started yet for the same reason you mention, suddenly just being hungry all the time!!!! After fasting Ramadan, I just wanna pig out at any time I want on all kinds of goodies that my mouth watered for in Ramadan! But inshaAllah this will be the first year I fast in this month (never had the knowledge before...)
In addition, I wanted to convey to you my late Eid greetings...Eid Mubarak...and say that I hope all is well, and thank you for all the support you have shown to me! :)
Very informative post. Good work!
