To finish off book week, the kids were allowed to dress up as their favourite book characters. Little Lady had this costume at home (a gift from Kooky Little Sister) and I had to buy the Power Rangers costume for Little Man. I looked in a half-a-dozen shops for something more suitable but everything seem to be sold out (looks like thiers is not the only school celebrating). Next time I'll try makingh something at home.
Fashionista also had to dress up as in her school the teachers were joing in. She came to mine the night before looking for a last-minute idea. Kooky, who was with her, proceeded to read off this list to wind her up:
* Carry a quarter and a hammer. What are you? A Quarter-pounder.
* Dress in pink and carry a feather. What are you? Tickled pink.
* Dress all in black, tie a shot glass around your neck. What are you? A shot in the dark!
* Wear all black and put a postage stamp (enlarged if possible) on your chest. What are you? Black mail.
* Draw the letter C seven times on face and arms (use safe ink!). What is it? The Seven Seas.
* Get a small weight (e.g. dumbbell) and stare at it intently. What are you? Watching your weight.
* Draw the letter P around the child's eyes. What are you? "Black-Eyed-Peas".
In the end she decided to go as a girl pirate (black jeans, long white shirt, black bandanna, home-made eye-patch and a chain of gold coins) and looked very cool.
My nephew's school also does this and guess who gets roped in to help with costumes!
