Keeping The Kids Busy: Mini Garden Party

My better half had to tak the mother-in-law to hospital today, so all three of the kids were stuck inside all day. After work, I asked them to help me tidy up and we had a short Quran lesson after which I thought I would treat them to a garden party.

After the last post about healthy eating, this feels a bit hypocritical, but I went for the short cuts this afternoon, i.e. open the packet and pour out.

(Little Lady giving the neighbours girl a mean look after they have just had a fight, of coure the cake made it all better)

The boys were celebrating new hairstyles after the baby managed to get his hands on some scissors and cut a chunk out of the front of Little Man's hair. I suppose it's a good style for summer.

Please make dua for my mother-in-law who is having trouble controlling her blood presure but is back home now and resting.

  1. A'salaamu alaikum sister. I found your blog recently and I want to say it is so refreshing masha'Allah! So many Islamic-themed blogs seem to encourage fitnah; I don't need that in my life. Reading your blog is a joy and I pray that Allah swt blesses you and your family. Amin.

  3. Walaikam-Assalam Umm Aaminah,
    jazakh'Allah-khairun for your kind comment.
Before I started blogging, I used to visit lots of other Muslim blogs and I agree, I found so much arguing and misery that it was just depressing. I got the impression that all Muslim's are miserable and that state of Islam is miserable.
I could not accept that. So my rule is the same as I keep telling my children, if you have nothing good to say about someone, keep your mouth shut!! (Also I am wary of the anti-Islam trolls who seem to use such blogs to provoke people and I don't want them to have a reason to come here, maybe a bit cowardly).

Jazakh'Allah-khairun for your kind dua's and ameen and same for you insh'Allah.

Cool picnic , Mashallah your kids are cute.
2 out of 3 of my kids love eating outside. I like the hair cut of your boys :) My boys had this hairstyle(can we call it that :)) for a long time till they said that they are big enough to decide that they dont want to be bald for the rest of their lives :)
I agree with Anonymous that your blog so refreshing to read Mashallah. May Allah keep you and your family smiling all the time, Ameen.

  5. Salam sis

I couldnt help notice the party rings on the table please check the ingredients as I am sure they contain gelatine. If they arent pary rings and are a halal substitute let me know! I used to love them and havent had the chance to have one for YEARS.

  9. Walaikam-assalam,

    Umm Osman
    jazakh'Allah-khairun for your kind comments

    Anonymous,
When I read you comment, I went straight to the kitchen and checked (I still had part of the packet) and you are right, the ingredients included gelatin, so jazakh'Allah-khairun so much for letting me know. I had to throw them in the bin. I usually check for the "suitable for vegetarians", but didn't this time.

    Sis ep,
I had ulterior motives, whilst the kids were busy, I got to read the papers ;)

    Sis iMuslimah,
jazakh'Allah-khairun for your dua, she is much better and in good spirits. Mash'Allah, she seems to have spent the whole day laughing.
