It was nice having the last few days off. Waking up at a sensible time, making sure the children have had a proper breakfast, dropping and picking them from school, keeping up with housekeeping, getting some much needed rest and spending time playing and cuddling with my little one.
I even managed to pick up my new cookbook and bake some cookies, I would say in true Martha Stewart fashion, but I burnt them a little and they turned hard, so not the perfect housewife yet.
I realised last week I was starting to look haggard which was bothering me, so I have been trying to take better care of myself. I’m back at work now and everyone has noticed the difference. Insh’Allah I have next week off and will be making the most of it as well as fitting in a little Eid prep (lots of pictures to follow). It’s the first time I have taken off so much time from work during Ramadan, so this will be a treat for me insh’Allah. My mother-in-law and brother-in-law are also going back to Pakistan next week, so there will be that change to adapt to as well.
One hint on the cookies...when making chocolate chip cookies, leave them in little balls, because they will spread as they bake. And however long the time says, check them five minutes before.
ReplyDeleteThank you Elizabeth, I think you have pointed out exactly where I went wrong. I was going to give up on cookies, but you have encouraged me to have another go.
