Jeans for Genes Day 2009

Today was Jeans for Genes Day in the UK, this is the day when people where Jeans and pay money to charity for the privelage. The money collected goes towards research into genetic disorders and their treatment.

I love joining in with these kinds of activities and this is one I have participated in every year since I was a teenager working in TopShop because it's just so easy. Everyone kept asking me if I would wear jeans and I replied if I can fit into them. All the fasting had an effect and I managed to fit into my favourite jeans Long Suffering Sister bought me many years ago that had been sitting at the back of my drawer.

I went with faded bootleg jeans, black abaya, comfy black tunic, black sequined shayla, my brown beads and of course my favourite leopard print heels.

My office collected £2 from each person wearing jeans and sold cakes and books people had brought in, I bought Amy & Isabelle by Elizabeth Strout, The Story of Anne Frank by Mirjam Pressler and The Vansihing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O'Farrell. (It was nice to see one of my hijabi friends and collegue manning the stall, because we like to be ahead of everyone else in good deeds and setting a good example right?)

Anyone who wishes to donate can go here.
