After completing one application form after another in the last few weeks, I was finally called in to do a test on Monday (describe how you would plan a project to prepare a new policy within a three month timeframe). I managed to pass that and was told yesterday (at 5.30pm) that I had an interview today at 12.00pm. Good job the e-mail had been copied to my personal e-mail address and I managed to pick it up at home and prepare a little.
I noticed that the other candidate was a Muslimah (I saw her waiting for the test yesterday) and felt a bit guilty as I felt I had an advantage being internal. I thought I have a job already, what if she doesn't?
In any case, I made it thought the interview with a straight face and found out a few hours later that I was being offered the job. This entails a nice little jump in pay and quite a jump in grades. My manager called me aside and was kind enough to discuss various random matters before she got round to telling me 15 minutes later that I was being offered the job (I swear she was doing it on purpose). I got really good feedback on the test and interview, so that is a nice boost too.
That morning, one of the managers had called me aside to wish me luck and remind me to act as if I was external and not ssume that the panel knew me or what I did. It was just a little thing, but it reminded me how oftn we have people behind us, rooting for us and wishing us well when we don't even know it.
But the best news was that the other candidate has been offered another post in the same section which she has agreed to take up. So alhamdulillah, no need to feel guilty either. A few of my colleagues had applied for the same post and did not get an interview and were gracious enough to wish me luck and encourage me so I will be treating them to lunch on Friday.
Hubby has offered to take us out for dinner later to celebrate, so that's another result, don't have to cook!
MashAllah! We'll be rooting for you!
