I got the recipe for this from Fauzia’s Kitchen Fun which has been my go-to website for Ramadan food ideas. I changed it, so that the method/ingredients I used are as below.
Ingredients
500g dates – with the stones removed
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 tablespoon desiccated coconut
1 tablespoon butter
Half a cup of almonds – crushed into small pieces
Half a cup of cashew nuts – crushed into small peaces
Method
Melt the butter in a pan and then add the sesame seeds and desiccated coconut. As soon as they start to change colour to a light gold add the dates. Once they start to go soft (about 10 minutes), add the crushed almonds and cashew nuts and cook for another minute or two, taking care to stir continuously to stop the dates going black. Then pour into a buttered dish and leave to set, before slicing into squares.
I loved how the sesame and coconut browned at the beginning gave the date and nut slices a really nice toasted taste. This was also a nice, easy recipe to make with Little Lady
errmmmm...looks real divine & delicious...will definitely try this out...JazakAllah khayr sis :)
