Day Trip to Dover: The White Cliffs

After our visit to Dover Castle, we stopped at the famous White Cliffs.  Wiki describes them as following:

"The cliffs have great symbolic value in Britain because they face towards Continental Europe across the narrowest part of the English Channel, where invasions have historically threatened and against which the cliffs form a symbolic guard. Because crossing at Dover was the primary route to the continent before the advent of air travel, the white line of cliffs also formed the first or last sight of the UK for travellers."

I had packed  a big lunch of chicken sandwiches, baked chicken strips for the kids and the same in wraps for the adults, lamb burgers and aloo chaat.  Hubby is very careful about where his food comes from mash'Allah and how it is prepared (i.e. how halal it is) so packing our own lunch was the preferable option for him.  It also helped with keeping costs down.

The view we had of the cliffs was from the coast at the village of  St Margaret's-at-Cliffe.

I thought that this, just on the beach was rather cool.
