It could not have come at a better time, with work so intense that I feared burning out or being buried under minutiae and endless emails.
I am trying to plan fun things for the holidays, but so far I am winding down, revelling in the amount of time I have off and not committing to doing much of anything except reading yet. Plus after some lovely days of spring sunshine, as soon as the holidays hit we had a rain shower. So books in bed it is.
I did try and get a half decent picture out of almost every window in the house but failed completely, so these pictures were taken by Shutterbug Sister on her DSLR Canon camera.
Assalamalaikum HMM, maybe this isnt the right place to ask. But from reading ur posts, i knw ur husband is heavily involved in dawah and you host and attend study circles yourself.
ReplyDeleteSo my question was: is every muslim responsible for doing dawah? What if we dont have much knowledge of the deen ourselves.
If we are responsible for dawah even as laymen, then how do we do it in a political climate where even the word Muslim or Islam had ppl frothing at the mouth?
My intent is to ask someone knowledgeable so Im not ignorant of my responsibilities and the best way to go abt things.
JAZAKALLAH khair.
Walaikam-assalam Sis,
DeleteI have answered your question as best I can here: http://www.happymuslimah.com/2016/04/dawah-for-ordinary-muslim.html

Keep the door of love open for them,
Who will be returning from a journey of hatred, tired and defeated.
Da'wah is strange in its impact and effect. They say that the Prophet kept giving Dawah for years and years to the likes of the filthy and unworthy, Abu Jahl and Abu Lahab. No effect. A simple speech and a short recitation of his disciple and cousin Ja'far ibn Abi Talib رضی اللہ عنہ changed the heart of Najaashi, the sovereign ruler of Habshah (Ethiopia).
You water the root but the fruit shows up somewhere else: at the tip of the shoot. Same with the Da'wah in Makkah fructifying in Habshah and Madinah.
You water the plant today and the tree gives fruit years later. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم gave Da'wah in his Makkah days but for Hindah bint Utbah, he remained the most loathed person and his Da'wah the most despicable of paths. Some ten years passed, silently at times and eventfully at others.
It's the same old place: the Haram. The same two people: the holy Prophet and Hind. A meeting of two long acquaintances after a long, long time. Yet a small difference: the Prophet after liberating Makkah from Laat and Uzzaa was not giving Da'wah. He was dispensing justice for a change.
And there was a big difference: Hindah was not chewing the liver of a Muslim (Hamzah رضي الله عنه). Nor was she promising a million dollar reward to the killer of a Muslim (Wahshi).
"Allah's Prophet! Till yesterday my heart cherished nothing more than humiliation of you and your people. Today my heart cherishes nothing more than glory to you and your people." (Bukhari 3825)
Hindah's body is same but her heart has taken a U-turn: turn to the right, to the truth, to the success in both worlds. May Allah be pleased with Hindah bint Abï Sufyän: her and her father!
Thanks Muslim Mama for your insightful reply. May Alläh reward the asker as well as the askee!
