Ramadan 2020/1441: Ramadan Gratitude Journal Day 2

Who in your life are you grateful for?
It would be easier to ask who I am not grateful for. I believe that everyone that comes into our life, helpful or harmful, does so for a reason. They either give us comfort, or they force us to grow in some way.

I am grateful for my beloved Prophet, who has guided us and sacrificed for us.
I am grateful for my parents who are like shade on a hot day, their dua’s priceless
I am grateful for my husband, my patient, kind rock and the love of my love
I am grateful for my children, my purpose, forcing me to grow and become a better person.
I am grateful for my sisters, my tribe, source of laughter and strength
I am grateful for my bestie, who has always made me feel so valued

I am grateful for those that have hurt me, insulted me or were ever unkind. These people forced me to grow a thick skin, work through my insecurities and find the fierce woman within.

The ones I still struggle with are those that are ever unkind or unfair, but I have to maintain ties for the sake of Allah (SWT)’s command (relatives that can’t play nice basically). I’ll have to reflect on what I can find to be grateful for regarding this special group. Perhaps that Allah (SWT) rewards us for maintaining ties, even when some people might not make it easy (like Aunty’s who like to ask me why I’ve gained weight ).

“Surely all believers are brothers. So make peace between brothers and fear Allah that mercy may be shown to you.” ~ Quran 49: 10.

Abu Hurayrah (radhiallahu‘anh) narrated that the Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should be hospitable to his guest, and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should maintain his kinship ties; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should speak well or remain silent.”(Al-Bukhari)

Alhamdulillah for all of it, life is beautiful because of the people Allah (SWT) surrounds us with.
