Our Ramadan Giving series highlights the amazing work charities are doing and showcases their special Ramadan campaigns, giving us all the opportunity to support, donate and do a little good insh’Allah

Ramadan Giving Day 13: UMR in Yemen
United Mission for Relief & Development (UMR) is a non-profit organisation focused on providing disaster relief and recovery services to the underserved both domestically in the U.S. and internationally across the globe. UMR was first created by a student body in George Mason University in response to the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

In 2013 they transitioned from being a student led humanitarian movement to being a professionally staffed organisation. They maintain their student movement roots through their chapters at universities.

UMR is on the ground in Yemen hoping to help as much as possible with donations.  Currently, the majority of the Yemeni population is malnourished and starving.  UMR are raising funds for food baskets for the people of Yemen for the month of Ramadan.

You can find out more about the project and donate here.

O you who have believed, spend from that which We have provided for you ~ Quran 2:254

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas: “The Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) was the most generous person, and he used to become more so (generous) particularly in the month of Ramadan…more generous than the fast wind in doing good” (Bukhari).
