Ramadan Giving Day 9: Ummah
Welfare Trust
Ummah Welfare Trust is a
UK-based international relief and development charity established in 2001.
Inspired by the Islamic teachings of empathy, generosity and selflessness, the
trust aims to alleviate poverty and suffering across the world.
Ummah Welfare Trust works
under the guidance of scholars who ensure that the charity’s role as a trustee
is always fulfilled. Knowing that we are all ultimately accountable to the
Almighty, the charity strives to maintain transparency and accountability. All
donated funds are monitored and reviewed by scholars who ensure Zakah, Sadaqah
and Lillah funds are spent correctly.
Ummah Welfare Trust has a
'100% Policy', this means that every penny given, goes to help the poor.
Their current campaigns are
the Idlib Crisis Appeal, Yemen
Emergency Appeal, Iraq
Emergency Appeal, Uighur Muslim Refugee Appeal and
the COVID 19 Assistance Appeal.
O you who have believed, spend
from that which We have provided for you ~ Quran 2:254
Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas: “The
Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him)
was the most generous person, and he used to become more so (generous)
particularly in the month of Ramadan…more generous than the fast wind in doing good”
(Bukhari).
