Ramadan 2020/1441: Ramadan Gratitude Journal Day 20

What role model that you had are you grateful for?
There are lots of people I admire and have learned from, just a very few include:
Mother of the Believers, Lady Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (radhiallahu‘anha), for her loyalty, nobility and absolute goodness.
Mother of the Believers, Lady Aisha bint Abu Bakr (radhiallahu‘anha), for her intelligence and strong nature.
Mother of the Believers, Lady Umm Salama Al-Makhzumiyah, (radhiallahu‘anha), for her wisdom and good sense.
The Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) aunt Safiyah bint Abd al-Muttalib (radhiallahu‘anha), for her strength and bravery even into her later age, a real role model of how to get older without declining.

More recently:
Mohammed Ali for his conviction and generous humanitarian work
Linda Sarsour for her confidence and conviction – I wish I could be as bold as her sometimes.
Toni Morrison for her insight and wisdom
Poetic Pilgrimage duo Sukina Douglas and Muneera Rashid for their spiritual and artistic take on the world – and they are super cool.
Mona Haydar - although controversial, when she speaks, you realise how soulful she is, there is something really lovely about her mash’Allah.
Mo Mowlam – her work on the Ireland peace process showed me it takes a sensible woman to do what looked impossible at the time.
Sarah Joseph for her writing and her promotion of a beautiful, positive and green Islamic lifestyle

But the one role model I am more grateful for than any other is our beloved Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), sent as our teacher and guide by Allah (SWT). He is the perfect role model, as Aisha (radhiallahu‘anha) described:

“Verily, the character of the Prophet of Allah was the Quran.” (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 746).

Our daily life is guided by his example down to how we eat, drink, sleep, pray, carry out our business and work affairs and how we treat others.

What role model that you had are you grateful for?

You can find the original Ramadan Gratitude journal challenge here and my take on it here.

“And verily, you (O Muhammad ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam) are on an exalted (standard of) character” ~ Quran 68:4

“The Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
did not refuse to give anything which He had to someone if he asked for it.” (Bukhari)

“I have never seen a man who smiled as much as the Messenger of Allah.” (Tirmidhi)
“The Prophet (PBUH) did not swear at anyone, nor was He rude, nor did He curse anyone. If He desired to reprimand someone, He would say: ‘What is wrong with him, may dust be cast in his face!” (Bukhari)
