What voyage are you grateful
for?
Of all the holiday and trips
I have been blessed to make, there is one that is more precious than all of the
others. It’s been 15 years since I made
my hajj journey with my husband in unexpected circumstances.
That year my husband had been
with the local Jamaat group in the path of Allah (SWT) leaving me with a two-year-old
and a two month old baby and caring for my grandmother. This was the first time
he went since we were married and it drew the ire of both my family and his. On
his return he had to spend a long time trying to bring them round. That year we managed to save some money and
book our hajj trip. We left behind both of our children, one with my mum and one
with my aunt on the reasoning that now we had the money Hajj had become an
obligation, and having children was not a reason to put it off. I will always be grateful to my mum and aunt
for supporting me to do my Hajj, may Allah (SWT) reward them with equal reward.
Once there we spent five
blessed weeks, on one occasion my husband came back from tawaf and met me at
the hotel with a big smile on his face. He told me that every member of his
Jamaat group had been on umrah (the lesser pilgrimage to Makkah) that year
except one, he wondered why. He found
him that day in the Haram (the holy place Ka'abah), he had been blessed with hajj too.

May Allah (SWT) bless you and
I with the opportunity to visit his house again and again insh’Allah. Ameen.
We
have rendered the shrine (the Kaba) a focal point for the people, and a safe
sanctuary. You may use Abraham's shrine as a prayer house. We commissioned
Abraham and Ismail: "You shall purify My house for those who visit, those
who live there, and those who bow and prostrate." ~ Quran 2:125
Abu Hurairah (radhiallahu‘anh) narrated that he heard Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam
(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, “Whoever performs Hajj and does
not commit any obscenity or transgression will return [free from sins] as he
was on the day his mother gave birth to him.” (Al-Bukhari)
Abdullah ibn `Umar
(radhiallahu‘anh) narrated that the Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi
wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “The one striving in
the cause of Allah and the one performing Hajj and the one performing `Umrah
are all the delegation of Allah. He calls them and they respond to His call,
and they ask Him and He answers their supplication.” (Ibn Majah and
authenticated by Al-Albani)
